FREE TRADE: Portman tries to restart FTAA

Rob Portman, the US Special Trade Representative, said on 4 May that the US was still interested in creating a Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). However, the FTAA did not seem to be a high priority for Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State, when she made her first full-scale trip to Latin America at the end of April.
